Martine Leavitt

Do you wrestle with theme when you’re writing, or is it your guiding light?  If you write YA or mid-grade fiction, you won’t want to miss Martine Leavitt’s presentation on theme on Thursday, September 11

Leavitt is the author of eight novels for young adults, including My Book of Life by Angel, a novel written in verse and winner of the Canadian Library Association Young Adult Book of the Year award. Leavitt’s other titles include Keturah and Lord Death, a finalist for the National Book Award, Tom Finder, winner of the Mr. Christie Award, and Heck Superhero, a finalist for the Governor General’s Award. Her novels have been published in Japan, Korea, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands. Currently she teaches creative writing to graduate students at Vermont College of Fine Arts, a short-residency MFA program. She is a mother of seven, grandmother of fifteen, and lives in the beleaguered but beloved town of High River, Alberta.
